New biomarkers may help in diagnosis, prognosis of lupus nephritis
Researchers identified several differentially-expressed genes (DEGs) in lupus nephritis (LN) that have good diagnostic efficacy. These biomarkers may help with the understanding of the pathogenesis of LN as well as improve clinical management and predict prognosis.
The genes include:
“These biomarkers are involved in a variety of different molecular pathways expressed in various immune cells,” the authors concluded. “However, additional research is necessary to determine the association between specific HLA alleles and LN because of the presence of HLA gene polymorphisms.”
