Chemotherapy After Surgery Beneficial in Upper Tract Urothelial Carcinoma

Receiving chemotherapy after surgery cuts the risk of upper tract urothelial carcinoma, according to results from the POUT trial published in The Lancet.

Patients who received chemotherapy <3 months after surgery had their risk of cancer returning or spreading reduced and had a better chance to living cancer free for ≥3 years.

The trial results have the potential to change clinical practice, according to the researchers.
